In setting Homework we aim:

o To promote positive attitudes to work and school
o To raise the achievement of all pupils
o To consolidate and reinforce skills and understanding in literacy and numeracy and across the curriculum
o Encourage and develop independent writing
o Increase self discipline
o Develop a home/school partnership

Variety and types of Homework:

At Crystal Gardens Primary School we set a variety of types of homework depending on the age and ability of the pupils. The list below is not exhaustive but is representative of types of homework that have been set in the past.

o Reading
o Learning spellings, multiplication tables, Mental Arithmetic tasks
o Completion of class work or tasks begun in school
o Research on a familiar or new topic
o Revision for a test.
o A piece of Numeracy, Science, or Literacy work
o Other work agreed between parents and the school.

Homework will always be sent home on Friday and returned to school on the following Monday. There may be occasions when homework is sent home during the week however parents will be notified of this and the reasons behind this prior to it happening.
